F. Vohradský
Summary
Population total and in agriculture, livestock numbers
and its production in the Asian continent were evaluated for the period from
1970 to 1985. The number of animals and their production were calculated per
1000 persons. Percentage of economically active population in agriculture declined
gradually except the countries of East Asia. The number of ruminants went down,
whilst that of pigs and poultry showed a remarkable increase. The production
of beef+buffalo meat followed a descending tendency, production of mutton went
up slightly. Pig and poultry nio«i! output increased considerably. Milk production
did not show remarkable variation during the period. Significantly higher production
of hen eggs coincides with increasing poultry stocks. Cheese and butter production
was moderately higher.
