POSSIBILITIES TO REPLACE MAIZE BY MANIOC HEAL IN BROILER FATTENING DIETS - PART I

Abstract
This first part of the study presents the results
of two trials on broiler oockerels. Manioc meal was tested as a replacer for
successively increasing proportions of maize in the diet. At the maximum, manioc
meal replaced 56 % of maize, thus constituting 35 % of, the whole diet. Manioc
meal had little influence on the growth of the birds but their food conversion
efficiency declined with increasing proportions of manioc meal in the diet.
Neither the health of the birds nor their mortality were affected by the diets
tested.
