Abstract
The new Czech growth regulator Melatran was used in
the form of spray and watering t^o treat coffee and cotton plants. Some growth
and development Characteristics of the plants were monitored during the growing
season.
Coffee trees have leathery leaves, so the regulator is better absorbed by the
roots - hence, it is more effective to apply the chemical in the form of watering.
If so treated, the plants had less branches and leaves, a factor indicating
that the preparation has a retarding action.
Cotton has normal deciduous leaves, which provide a better route for the absorption
of the regulator. The sprayed plants were taller, had more flowers and more
fruit-bearing and vegetative branches.
