Abstract
An engine is the most important part of any tractor.
Without it the remainder has no value as an agriculture machine . Lubricating
Oil carries important information about the condition of the internal parts
of a machine / an engine and the condition of the lubricant. Lubricating oil
is, therefore, used as a diagnostic medium. Based on our experience, Oil Analysis
(OA) as a diagnostic method, improves engine / machine dependability and prolongs
machine / engine life span. There is a forseen posit ive economic impact of
this method on Tractor Rehabilitation. To justify the prime role of OA in machine
maintenance and rehabilitation program / system oil samples were 7col-lected
from tractors and tracks at the University Farm Lany and Velke Bilovice - Czech
Republic and from Zambia - At Power Equipment (PE), Contract Haulage, (CH) and
at Nchanga Mine. The samples were analysed and compared. The results justify
the need to integrate OA both at field / operational and laboratory levels using
che ap reliable diagnostic equipment, facilitated with formulated nomograms
and trend graphs.
Key words:
oil analysis, rehabilitation, dependability, diagnostic
