EGG PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE OF DOMINANT BROWN D-102 HENS IN ZAMBIA
CHIBWE KAOMA, JAN BLÁHA
Abstract
An experiment was conducted to examine egg production
performance of Dominant Brown D-102 hens in zambia. A total of 100 day-old chicks
originating from the Czech Republic were reared in Zambia to egg production
age. The egg production performance was evaluated for the laying period from
20 (December 13, 1992) to 78 wk of age and the results compared with the average
egg production performance of hens of the same line in the Czech Republic.
Hen-day egg production and egg weight of hens in Zambia did not differ much
with the average production in the Czech Republic. Both eggs per hen daily and
egg per hen housed of hens in Zambia were 1.9% less than the standard performance
in the Czech Republic. Feed consumption per 1kg of egg mass (kg) of hens in
Zambia was 2.6% more than the standrd performance in the Czech Republic. On
average, these results indicate that birds of Dominant Brown D-102 can be reared
in Zambia to egg pr oduction performance with the results similar to those observed
in the country of origin (Czech Republic).
