Abstract
A study to compare the performance of different types
of broilers in Zambia and the Czech Republic was conducted in two comparative
experiments using one-day old male broilers of the Asa, Hubbard, Ross and Vedette
hybrids from the Czech Republic.
In the experiment in Zambia, broilers of Vedette hybrid recorded the highest
growth rate, followed by the broilers the of Asa, Hubbard and Ross hybrids,
respectively.. The broilers of the Vedette hybrid recorded the best feed efficiency,
followed by the broilers of the Hubbard, Asa and Ross hybrids. A similar order
of response was observed when feed efficiency of all groups was evaluated.
In the experiment in the Czech Republic, the broilers of the Hubbard hybrid
recorded the highest growth rate, followed by the broilers of the Ross, Vedette
and Asa hybrids, respectively. Broilers of Ross hybrid recorded the recorded
the best feed efficiency, as compared with the broilers of the Asa, Vedette
and Hubbard hybrids.
