Abstract
Salinity tolerance of tomato seedlings was studied
in simple tests in the cultivars Pla-tense, Platense Linea 7, Platense Linea
9, Platense J. J. Gomez and Triuque at concentrations ofO, 25, 50, 75, 100 and
125 mM Nad The variables evaluated were: percentage of seeds germinated, percentage
of reserves mobilised in seeds, elongation, dry weight and free proline level
of radicles.
The results indicate that Triuque and Platense J. J. Gomez are the most tolerant
cultivars to the salinity treatments tested, and Platense is the most sensitive.
Free proline analysis did not show results related to those obtained from the
other variables tested.
Key words:
tomato - salinity - germination - tolerance - proline.
