Abstract
Our work describes some geographic, climatic, and
socio-economic characteristics of the Republic of Uruguay, it analyses the actual
situation of goat production in this country and Latin America in general. Based
on this analysis and on a survey made in February this year in Uruguay; we propose
a model of organisational structure of the Uruguayan farmers and the consulting
and extension services, including an integral control (milk recording, parasitical,
reproductive and growth) of goat production. These services "will focus
on the improvement of goat production in Uruguay, so that it can become a profitable
productive alternative, improving therefore the life standard of the breeders.
Key words:
extension services, goat milk production, milk recording.
