Abstract
Studies had been conducted at pig experimental farm
in Agricultural University number HI in Vietnam. Crossbred-sows Fl (YR. x MC
) were selected from the crossbred piglets between Mongcai sows and Yorkshire
boars.
Observation on the physiological characteristics and reproduction of crossbred-sows
Fl (YR x MC) showed that, these sows inherited some good genetic characteristics
from Mongcai breed and Yorkshire breed. The growth of crossbred gilts Fl (YR
x MC) is faster than the growth of Mongcai gilts. Weight at the age of 9 months
was 75.70 ±2.60 kg. The age of the first heat and duration of heat of crossbred
sows Fl (YR x MC) were 226 ±16.50 days and 4.88 ± 0.24 days. The fertilisation
rate were 82.10 %. Number of piglets per liter in crossbred-sows Fl (YR x MC)
was 9.37+0.55 and the weight at birth was 0.94 ± 0.02 kg. Milk production of
these sows was 30.44 litres. These sows were used in the studies, in order to
find out the crossbred fomula with high lean-meat.
