Abstract
In sunflower, salt enduring stable genotype identification at field level is attempted through indexing and component analysis. A total of twenty-five inbreds were raised in both normal and sodic soil. The potential and stress yield were utilised for salt susceptibility and tolerance index. Accordingly the genotypes GP336, SF91 and SF30 were identified as tolerant and substantitated with percent reduction in yield under sodicity stress. The component analysis with the data on yield and its contributing attributes viz., head diameter, number of seeds per head, number of whorls per head and single seed weight indicated that head diameter and single seed weight are the major contributing traits for instability of yield.
